Vision

To serve the special education needs of children in the community by offering a unique, therapeutic learning environment where active minds are challenged, all are treated with respect and dignity, learning is a joy; and wisdom is the outcome.

Major tenets of the program include:

• academic content is a vehicle for cognitive, emotional and social development;
• the development of executive functioning skills is the core of an education for life;
• the student's ownership of learning allows him/her to become a self-advocate;
• the urgency of the student to learn to function effectively in a variety of relationships; and
• the necessity of the student to learn to regulate emotions.

Students with special learning needs will benefit from a Monarch Education. They are bright, intelligent children whose social awareness and emotional regulation interfere with their ability to learn. The development of executive functioning skills is essential to their ability to be successful.

The School's History - in brief

The school opened in September 1998 with an enrollment of 23 students. The school now has 90 students on two campuses. The Apprentice Campus is located on four beautifully wooded acres in the Spring Branch neighborhood of northwest Houston. The Challenger Campus is located just a few blocks away. A new campus is under construction at 2815 Rosefield at Kempwood and will be complete in the spring of 2009. Click here for more information on the new campus.
