Recent Accomplishments
Monarch has made a significant impact in the special education community locally and beyond. Some of our recent accomplishments include:
- Implemented a training program for advanced-level pediatric residents from University of Texas Medical School–Houston (UTMS-H) through The Monarch School’s Diagnostic Clinic and Day School.
- Wrote a book, A Place For All, published by St. Mary’s Press in September 2008.
- Currently training a team of professionals on-site in Houston to replicate Monarch in Portland, Oregon.
- Trained a replication team of professionals who founded Monarch Guatemala School in September 2007.
- Received national recognition in Newsweek, Kids Who Don’t Fit In by Lorraine Ali, September 17, 2007.
- Created a supportive living program in four homes near the new campus.
- Averaged 550,000 hits per month on the website www.monarchschool.org.
- Presented workshops/seminars at prestigious national professional conferences annually.
- Received Mayor’s Community Volunteer and Halliburton Hometown Hero Awards.
- Transition 33% of our students annually into mainstream public and private elementary, middle and high schools, and community colleges, technical schools and universities.
