It was an exciting day for The Monarch School on March 13th. Founder and Head of School Dr. Marty Webb and over 200 guests participated in the official groundbreaking for the school’s new 10.75 acre campus at 2815 Rosefield.

Guests were invited to participate in various outdoor education activities. Our students ran demonstration stations in energy generation, public affairs interview, drama, poetry reading, the physics of trebuchet (catapult) launching, jewelry making, tie dye shirt production, arts and design concepts for the new buildings, group cooperative games, soil testing, and rock wall climbing. Dr. Webb’s heartfelt speech highlighted the team effort of faculty, board, parents and community in getting to this historic day, as well as expressing our gratitude to MetroNational for the land.

Everyone had a hand in shoveling dirt…board members, campaign leaders, volunteers, parents, faculty members, and students. Everyone also had an opportunity to leave their handprint in cement slabs that will be incorporated into the design of the new campus.

Students made beautiful bracelets with an accompanying description of the symbolism of each bead and gave them to our guests.

Dr. Webb noted at day’s end that “this day was the result of many people’s hard work, vision, hard work, dreaming, hard work and more hard work. We can hardly wait to bring our two campuses together onto this beautiful campus in about a year.” Click here to read Dr. Webb's opening speech.
