Internships

Course Description

Students learn a variety of skills and strategies for entering the workforce. Students are exposed to a variety of work programs that build on their interests and skills. Continued job intervention will assist in the continued development of communication skills on the job, teamwork, and other skills necessary to maintain a successful career.

Projects include creation of resumes, interest inventory, requesting letters of recommendation, time management, and role-playing in the preparation of job internships inside and outside of The Monarch Community.

Students at the challenger level are exposed to the following:

  • Makes effective use of basic work skills and tools.
  • Uses various information sources, including those of a technical nature, to accomplish specific tasks.
  • Manages money effectively.
  • Studies or pursues specific job interests.
  • Makes general preparations for entering the work force.
  • Makes effective use of basic life skills.
  • Displays reliability and a basic work ethic.
  • Operates effectively within organizations.

On a quarterly basis, students prepare a culminating project, which can be a project, report, or presentation.
