Monetary Redemption Center
Project Focus:
Students learn all about money, not just from the United States, but from all over the world. As a part of a worldwide charity promotion, change from travelers makes it’s way to collection sites where students help with the sorting of coins and bills from the Middle East, Europe, Central America, and the Far East. Coins and bills are separated, then sorted according to the correct country. Students have the ability to learn about the countries through the currency. Through this project, students also learn about the different denominations of currency and become more comfortable with coins, which increases their confidence in handling money and making change in everyday activities.
Some students find the sorting a soothing project, which helps to calm them at the end of a stressful day. Even staff and administration have been seen lending a hand to this activity.
