The Monarch School Graduates Thirteen Seniors in 2013

The Monarch School high school class of 2013 graduated May 18, 2013 in a beautiful ceremony at St. Luke's United Methodist Church Westheimer Campus. On that day thirteen seniors became the 11th graduating class and moved through graduation ceremonies and on to their future paths. Challenger and Voyagers Summer Program

Our summer program began on June 10, 2013. Fifty Challenger and Voyager students are participating in Summer Program 2013. In our Challenger program we are focusing on how “We Are Living in a Four Core Goal World”, and are exploring “How They Did That?” in Mayan times, too.

Voyagers are in their own world and time – expanding employability skills, pursuing post high school opportunities, and building their own life plans toward successful adulthood.

Monarch School Alumni Graduates from AIH

Former student and The Monarch School Alumni Stephen Miller graduated from The Art Institute of Houston with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Art. We’ve also heard that Sean O’Toole Minns and William Marshall have completed college degrees (Journalism and Information Technology). Congratulations! Adam Farris is working in North Carolina, and Matt Searle is a quality control safety officer for an oilfield services corporation. David Kates has signed on full time at Sasol, joining Jason Light there. Keith Love ’03, and his success as a spear fisherman, was featured in Hawaii Skindiver Magazine May edition.

Monarch in the Community

What an exciting and busy summer. Monarch Institute volunteer John Hardesty received the 2013 Volunteer Houston Service Award. Monarch students were winners AND performers at SPA/ Blue Man Group Invent-An-Instrument Challenge. ExxonMobil volunteers helped build a tool shed for a transition services home.

Music and dance groups brought their talent to the Monarch community. Groups included Boomshaka Dance Group and Texas Summer Music Festival Group Orchestra Fellows.
