Women’s Energy Network Trip
By: Kylie, Challenger Student

Carolyn, Elizabeth, and I attended the 6th Annual Young Women Energized Program. The Women’s Energy Network (WEN) is a mentoring event designed for high school girls to teach them about careers open to them in the energy industry and network. Industry professionals from a variety of companies attend WEN to host the event.
The Monarch School contributed to WEN by packing goodie bags that were handed out after the event. They had to pack the bags up as a team and then had to wait for someone to pick them up to take them to WEN.

I liked going to WEN because I learned so much about different careers. It was fun to meet people who actually work in the energy industry. I liked getting to work with other people that I didn’t know anything about. It was scary at first but I became more comfortable later on. I was able to work on my targets while I was there. I worked on my Self-Awareness/Self Regulation target of not interrupting others. I worked on my Executive Functions target of working with others to learn more about the energy industry. I worked on my Academic Competence tartget by asking a lot of questions on things that interested me.
