Texas' Only Certified DIR Therapist is at Monarch!

Sharon DIRMy DIR journey started in July 2002 when I began working with a 5-year-old boy whom I will refer to as “Sam”.  Sam and his family were working with both Stanley Greenspan, M.D. and Serena Wieder, Ph.D, the developers of the DIR Model and had just moved to Houston to attend a private school here.  They were looking for a therapist to do Floortime™ with their son.  The caregiver they hired knew me and told them that I “got down on the floor and played with children.”  Read the rest of Sharon’s story by clicking here.

Partaking in Their Pajamas

PJsIn support of parents attending Monarch’s Miracle Makers' Morning Breakfast, students came early to school at 7:00 am in their pajamas to share breakfast with their teachers. This made the transition from home to school a little smoother and as the picture attests, very enjoyable. For more Apprentice Program stories, click here.

Doctor, Doctor, Give Me the News!

We are proud to announce that Apprentice Program Director Debrah Hall has been conferred a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology by the Union Institute and University. From her first year at The Monarch School Dr. Hall knew she wanted to complete research that would offer the world quantifiable evidence of the success that The Monarch School has with its students. Moving on Up!

O'QuinnThanks to the M.D. Matthews Foundation for a tremendous $1,000,000 challenge grant to help build our new campus! The “two for one” grant challenged us to raise an additional $500,000 before it could be funded.

Mr. John M. O’Quinn and the Trustees of the John M. O’Quinn Foundation recently helped Monarch secure the $1,000,000 donation by presenting Dr. Webb and honorary co-chair of the campaign, Kathy Cullen McCord, with a $300,000 check.
