Making Miracles in the Morning

In addition to the tumultuous downpour of rain, excitement was in the air at the 3rd annual Ft. Bend Miracle Makers Morning Breakfast, where over 160 friends of Monarch weathered the storm to gather in support of Monarch.

Chief Justice Visits Monarch

In keeping with our core goal of increasing student ownership of academic competence, we recently studied and celebrated on Constitution Day, commemorating the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. One of the highlights of this special day was a visit from The Honorable Sherry Radack, Chief Justice of the First Court of Appeals, who read from and discussed with students the book, The U.S. Constitution, by Norman Pearl. We are grateful to Chief Justice Radack for taking time out of her busy schedule to help our students learn more about this important document, which established the many freedoms we enjoy today.

Safe and Sound
Monarch friend and supporter Carol Measom attended our Miracle Makers Morning breakfast in November 2005. Her hostess at the breakfast, Dr. Amanda Canto, had told her that she would be inspired—and she was! Carol and her husband, E. Allen Measom, at the time had a three year old company, Raptor Technologies, which produced software for schools. This software was primarily used for attendance, but they were working on and improving software for criminal background checks for visitors entering the school. Raptor Technologies, Inc. built the first web-based Visitor Management system and pioneered the technology that screens visitors for sex offenders nationally. Carol offered to donate the software to Monarch when we moved into our new building! We are so deeply grateful to the Measoms for this meaningful donation to our school. Deck the Walls!

Special thanks to Beverly Mattern, graduate of the Western School of Feng Shui, who helped us design the placement of art, certificates, student work and other artifacts, throughout our new building. Now we look beautiful inside and out!

An Evening of Appreciation

It was a Green Light evening for The Monarch School as Honorary Chairs Rose Cullen and Kathy Cullen McCord, along with their spouses Harry Cullen and Jody McCord, hosted an appreciation party on September 29th for supporters of our New Campus Capital Campaign.

Among the notables being thanked for their support were John O'Quinn and Darla Lexington, Margaret Alkek Williams and Jim Daniels, Camille and Grier Patton, Mary and Roy Cullen and DeDe and Connie Weil.

Special thanks to the hosts and all who attended! Click here for more pictures!

Monarch Parent Invited to Join Board of Directors for National Autism Association

From the day her son was first diagnosed with autism, Leslie Phillips has been his champion. But not long after, she began to feel called to help others in the same situation.

“First and foremost, you learn to advocate for your own child,” Leslie shared. “After the first year or so, I found more and more families calling me for information.”
