Phase Two Begins!

The completion of the first building of our new campus in July 2009 was a “dream come true” for the whole Monarch community. Local Geneticist, Friend of Monarch, Produces Breakthrough Work in Autism

We at The Monarch School are privileged to have had the preeminent Jim Lupski, M.D., Ph.D., world-renowned pediatrician and geneticist, in support of our work since Monarch was just the gleam of an idea. As a member of Monarch’s professional advisory board, he has given advice, reviewed grants, referred families and been behind us every step of the way. And now, his professional interest in the genetics of autism is drawing us even closer together professionally.

Students' Hard Work Pays off with New Laptops
The Monarch School is well-known for supporting and participating in environmental events and projects. In fact, our school is not only big on “going green” but we are also one of the only private schools in the Houston area to be chosen to receive a portion of money from the American Forest Foundation: Project Learning Tree’s “GreenSchool!” action grant. Lemonade Day Kickoff

Monarch School students turned ‘lemons into lemonade’ during their kick off to the national Lemonade Day, which was held on May 2, 2010. Monarch students manned their Lemonade Day stations on Friday, April 30 to create the ‘buzz about lemonade’. Four locations were established around The Monarch School area where the community could help each team succeed at their business.

Challengers Contribute to Art Show

Monarch Challenger students have been hard at work in the art room this semester on a body of work based on Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings. This focus was in conjunction with the Young Audiences of Houston annual art show and artist residency. Diana Sanchez, a wonderful resident artist, visited Monarch and introduced Van Gogh to the students. Monarch Student Wins 1st Place in Gymnastics Competion!
Lee, a Novice Level Student, recently participated in a Special Olympics gymnastics competition representing Biron Gymnastics. After preparing for a many months, she competed in floor routine, balance beam and spring vault at events in Houston and San Antonio, where she won first place overall.
