Hien Nguyen is a graduate of the University of Houston with a B.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders and minors in Psychology and Health. She was initially looking to volunteer at The Monarch School for the summer to gain experience and insight about working with children. She completely fell in love with the community and methodology at Monarch. She continued to volunteer throughout the remainder of her undergraduate career after seeing the students’ progress. Hien volunteered at Monarch for two years before becoming a substitute.

The work that the students and faculty achieve at Monarch amazes her every day. She looks back to her first days at Monarch and is in awe with all of the progress that she has seen in the students, faculty, and herself. She loves working with all the students and faculty at Monarch, and appreciates all the things that she has learned from everyone.

In her free time, Hien likes to read, bake, and spend quality time with her friends and family. She loves learning about different cultures and frequenting museums. She hopes to do some more traveling in the future. Hien is ecstatic to be at Monarch and can’t wait to see what the future brings!
