Richard Klein has always been a teacher, and it shows when he is around anyone who wants to learn. He grew up in the suburbs of Houston in a town called Friendswood. Upon graduation, he headed to Jacksonville (in East Texas) and Austin to study biology and education, graduating from The University of Texas. Richard has a Texas Teaching Certificate, along with Montessori Certification at the Secondary Level. "Montessori is where I found my home for many of my hands on lessons and project based learnings." Richard has close to 30 years working with students, the last 13 here at The Monarch School.

When he is not teaching, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife Lise, an art teacher at a local private school, their three dogs, three cats, many birds, and being in his wood shop where he “finds new ways to use old stuff”. Richard is optimist and an advocate for nature. He is active in the need to shift to renewable energy, the rights of animals, and a beautiful future.

"I believe we are all gardeners. The reason we “garden” is to discover our part in the transformation of sun light into life. I am excited to see our growth this season."
