Sharon Duval is a certified speech/language pathologist who has worked the past 35 years primarily with children who have neurological differences. Sharon received her certification in the DIR® model in 2007. Her therapy techniques incorporate using spontaneous interaction to help the child strengthen functional developmental levels while being sensitive to sensory processing differences, and building a relationship with the child and family. These techniques have proven to make measurable differences in changing the level of functioning in children who have developmental challenges.

The DIR® Model was developed by Stanley Greenspan, M.D., and Serena Wieder, Ph.D., and focuses on developing the child’s ability to relate to others, think, problem solve, be creative and communicate. Both Dr. Greenspan and Dr. Wieder have coached Sharon during her training process. She is passionate about integrating the DIR model into the important work that is happening here at The Monarch School and Institute and with reaching as many children and families as possible.

Besides working directly with Monarch students, Sharon is available for outpatient DIR services throughout the week. For further information, please call Stacy Lowers at (713) 479-0800 or (713) 933-0568.
