Karla graduated from the University of Houston main campus where she earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. There she took courses in Psychology, Sociology, Painting and Education for children with disabilities. In prior experience she has worked with children of different ages. During this time she developed skills to work with children on the autism spectrum and other neurological difference, at therapy clinic, were she found her passion.

Karla enjoys volunteering at her current church as a Sunday school teacher for various age groups, VBS camps and is virtues certified. Karla plans on continuing education in mental health counseling in hope to help as many children and families as possible.

Karla is ready to demonstrate that someone can make a difference through her philosophy and mission which consists of primarily love and respect, being the most important factors in making a child succeed, in different aspects such as socially, emotionally and academically. Karla is excited and honored to work with the Monarch Institute and bring education and psychology together.
